I was exhausted, mentally drained, head throbbing madly. Instead of taking a nap or lazing around, somehow I ended on the easel. No reference photo, no idea what to paint. How would you start with nothing but a blank canvas staring back at you? But the canvas isn’t simply a blank sheet to copy something onto. Rather - by the wisdom of the great Andrew Loomis - it is a window to our imagination. So I opened the window, and let imagination rule my hands. Strangely, my headache disappeared… as long as I continued painting - once I stepped away to take a break, the headache came back!
